During 4th of July weekend, I met up with my friend Greg and went to the Fairport Harbor Mardi Gras. I hadn’t been since I was a kid and it’s not as great as I remember, but it is still great for the kids. We still managed to have a good time, though. 🙂
While we were down there, we finally got the chance to explore the Fairport Harbor Lighthouse and Museum. We had planned to do it last year, but the timing was off. It was really cool to walk around and see what the small museum had to offer. Since my family is from there, I was thrilled when I saw a map from 1903 – 16 years before my grandfather was born. I found my family’s names on the map and it was so exciting for me!
After touring the museum part, I faced my fear of heights and climbed the lighthouse to the top. The view from the top was beautiful!! And windy. Haha!
Coming down was the scary part for me. I could see through the grated steps all the way to the bottom. After that, we walked around, hung out, then headed home. Oh, and snagged some tasty soda, fries, and elephant ears while we listed to the music. 🙂
