Homemade Extract

For those of you who don’t read  my blog often, I am one for cooking and baking homemade from scratch due to some food intolerances.  I’ve been known to make my own vanilla extract, but recently, I came to wonder, why stop there? That being said, I started making my own orange extract and lavender extract.  I wanted some homemade orange cinnamon rolls and some lavender infused things, so I figured why not?

I don’t know how they taste yet because it takes a couple of months to really start getting the strong flavor, but currently, I can say, they smell amazing!!!

Now, you may be wondering how to do it.  It’s actually much simpler than you’d think.

For the orange extract, all you need to do is peal an orange and put it in vodka.  Well, okay, that makes it sound simple, but honestly, you can’t have any of the white stuff on the orange peal so that makes it a little difficult, but it could be worse.

The lavender extract is even simpler.  Just pour vodka and then add lavender!  Easy peasy.

When I finally get around to using them, I’ll be sure to post the results!!
