Book Signing – Meeting My Idol

Last week, I was able to do something I’ve been wanting to do since I first read her book.  I met Maggie Stiefvater.  Shes been on a book signing tour for her latest release:  The Raven King.  It is the last book of the Raven Cycle series.  Let me first start by saying that The Raven King blew me away!!  The whole series did, in fact.  So, when I heard she was coming to Cleveland for part of her book tour, I knew I had to go.  Absolutely, hands down, had to go.  Even through I already had her book which I had pre-ordered signed and even though I would have to buy another copy just to meet her, I had to go.  Christianne wanted to go too, so she went with me and drove (which I am thankful for since traffic was absolutely NUTS that night).

You may be wondering why she’s my idol.  Reasons:  she’s an awesome author, artist, musician, and really into cars.  She’s even raced her car.  She’s very down to earth, I love the way she thinks, and honestly, she’s proved that you can do more than one art successfully.

I was number 136 in line, but I didn’t care.  I waiting and was finally able to meet her and say what I wanted to say to her.  I also managed to get all but one of my books signed (there was a limit).  I was even able to give her the friendship bracelet that I made her since she collects them from her fans and lets them tie them on her wrist.  Bonus:  she parked in the same parking garage and on the same floor as us, so I was able to see her car and get some shots of it on our way back to the car!

So, here’s some pics from that night…

Also, if you haven’t checked out her Ted Talk yet, you should.  It’s awesome.  I completely agree with her.  🙂

If you haven’t checked out The Raven Cycle, be sure you do.  You might like it. 🙂
