Painting Experiments with Rubbing Alcohol

I’ve been trying to find the right rainbow background for a tree painting I want to do and in the process, I discovered new ways of doing some things.  A friend of mine who runs an art group on Facebook assigns assignments each week.  You can partake or not, it’s up to you.  Well, this one was to try to do something different with materials you’ve never used before.  After some research, I decided to do some things with rubbing alcohol and sharpies.  Below is how it started out and the progression, then the final product.

I also had painted a couple of backgrounds that I wasn’t fond of, so I painted a wash over them and then sprinkled the rubbing alcohol over it.  The effect is pretty cool!



Oh, and these are just the tip of the ice burg.  I’ve been having a lot of fun with paint lately.


It’s cleaned up for now, but I expect to have a similar mess again soon.  :p
