Creating My Coffee Table

When I was getting ready to move into my new apartment, I was really stressed and decided I needed a project.  The little projects that I usually do just weren’t therapy enough for me for what I was going through, so I decided on a bigger project.  I decided on a project I’ve been wanting to do for years.  I decided… to build my own coffee table.  It’s amazing how much I love this now that it’s finished and how much fun I had just building it.  It makes me want to do more wood projects and I’m hoping to get that chance over the winter.  Key word being hoping.  Anyway, check out the pictures below to see how I went from four wine crates, a sheet a plywood, and four caster wheels and created an awesome piece of furniture.

In the middle of the table, I have some battery operated LED lights for when I want the table to glow, and over that, I found a perfect sized table vase at Target.  It’s a 9″ square face that’s angled just right so that it rests perfectly inside the square opening.  From there, I filled it with two different kinds of gravel and placed a candle in the middle.  It’s wonderful to light at night.  I can’t get enough of it!  On the four shelves, I have everything from knick knacks to remotes to art stuffs (of course!).

If this is something you want to try, I highly recommend it.  It was very fun and fulfilling for me and I can’t wait for my next wood project!  I’m thinking more upcycling. 🙂
