Kitty Face Mask and Other Random Weekend Fun

This past weekend wasn’t what I was anticipating, but still a good one! I love it when things change but still end up being fun. 🙂 I was supposed to have my breaks replaced but that ended up being postponed due to the weather. So, on Saturday, after helping my mom with something in Fairport Harbor, we went on a little adventure. I went geocaching for a couple of caches I’ve been wanting to snag for a while. Out of the two, I only found one. I hope to try to find the other one again sometime soon! Inside the one I did find, I found a badge. 🙂

While I searched for the 2nd one, I found my grandfather’s name on the WWII memorial in the middle of the park. It holds the names of everyone from Fairport who fought in wars. My grandma doesn’t remember ever finding it, so I took a photo for her to see that his name is, indeed, there.

After that was done, my mom returned me to my car, and I went and visited some friends. My friend Aslynn made me a really awesome kitty face mask! It’s perfect for keeping the allergens at bay and also great for costuming! Even better, I can have an optimal tongue sticking out. hehehhe

After that, I went to the store and once I got home, I was hungry for a snack. Apparently, I am sooo my father’s daughter for doing this, but I was craving toasted marshmallows so I toasted a few over the stove. :p

The remainder of my weekend consisted of me doing artsy things. I finally retired The Duct Tape Wonder and it is now going to serve a higher purpose: art.

I also managed to get a lot of commissions done (yay!) which has now funded me getting the scales I need since I’m running low on them. The rest of the week I’ll be working hard on getting ready for the Geek Expo. 🙂 Hopefully, any power outtages won’t last so long as to screw me up for getting things done.

Tag protested me working so hard on art and demanded attention:

In other news, I’m really working hard on eating healthier. That being said, I roasted a chicken this weekend and now it is serving as the filler for my very own chicken burritos! 😀 Sooo full of yum! I made them with large wraps and they’re stuffed with lettuce, chicken, cheese, and a little bit of caesar dressing (even though I had a slight mishap with the first one I made and accidentally dumped the dressing on it.:p) Still, turned out delicious! Plus you can make a few of them ahead of time and not have to worry about preparing your lunch for a few days. Om nom nom!

Lastly, I spent most of tonight preparing for the Frankenstorm: Hurricane Sandy Super Storm… what ever you want to call it. I know people have died, but calling it a super storm makes it sound way more positive than it is. I’m sticking to Frankenstorm, thank you very much. I gathered flashlights and batteries in preparation. I think I may have purchased the last D batteries in my town. It’s crazy!

I have a gas stove, so I’ll thankfully be able to cook while the power is out. I’m good at surviving without power. I did it, once, in the middle of a Tennessee summer for six weeks. Thankfully, it’s cool out and that actually helps make things easier. So, for those of you on the east coast, stay in and stay safe! I’m in Ohio, but I know we’re still going to get some of this. So, I am locked and loaded! So, on that note, I’m going to end this before I lose power. It’s already starting to flicker. Take care everyone! Thanks for reading and for those of you in the way of this storm, bunker down and stay safe!
