Hello to my regular readers and hello and welcome to anyone new people joining this work in progress! I’d like to extend my apologies for not writing for a while. I don’t think people want to read many depressing posts and lately, that’s what I’ve been: depressed. When things finally catch up to you, not even the most positive person can stay positive all the time. I’ve had to deal with a lot of loss in a short period of time, so it took me a while to cope with it all. I’m happy to say that I’m finally coming out of that depression, though, thanks to my wonderful boyfriends, friends, and family.
I may not have been up to much recently, but I have done some stuff. I’ve mostly been cleaning and organizing. I still have more to go, but it’s getting better. I re-organized my kitchen to work better for me, so that’s been a huge improvement! I’ve been happier with it and cooking has become easier as well. It’s also very clean. I’ll save pictures and more info on my re-organizing for another post.
Lately, I’ve been into plants again. With spring just around the corner, I’ve been eager. My plant that I got for Christmas is… well… not doing too well, but I’m hoping it improves. My other plants are really doing well though! My Christmas cactus even bloomed for me! I also acquired a bonsai tree that was sent to me by some wonderful family members in memory of my grandmother. I thought it was very appropriate since she was a plant lover herself, and bonus! I’ve always wanted a bonsai. I tried rescuing a small Norfolk Island Pine that I had given her around Christmas a few years ago, but it didn’t want to continue living. I now have a new one, though, and it’s even healthier than the original one when I got it!
My father gave me some leaves off of my grandfather’s burro plant the other day. It’s over 25 years old and I thought it was pretty, so he gave me some leaves and said, here. Plant these in some soil and they’ll grow. At least that’s what your grandfather told me. So, just to be sure, I looked it up. This plant is a survivor! It wants to grow and spread. Pretty much, if you put any part of the plant in moist soil, it will grow roots. LOL! So, that’s planted and I’m waiting for it to grow. Here’s hoping it does soon! I’m considering getting a clipping of it as well just to grow in some rooting gel and plant as well.
My plant menagerie. This is my bonsai tree, pine, and in the seemingly empty pot is my burro that I hope to grow.
You may be wondering how I’m keeping my cats from feasting on my lovely plants. Well, I have two words for you: bitter yuck. You can purchase it at pet stores. All you need to do is spray it on what you don’t want chewed/eaten and most cats will not like the taste of it and they’ll learn not to chew/eat what ever you sprayed. My cats are learning and quickly. Also, if you use it, be sure to wash your hands and stuff after use. It really does live up to it’s name and it is some powerful stuff.
Last Friday, I had to cave and buy a new phone. My old phone was possessed. After I activated my new phone, it kept turning itself on and off. I had to remove the battery. A friend describing his phone described my old one as well: demonically possessed window-licker of a device. I hated the fact that I had to buy a new one, but even though I only spent half the amount I did on my old one, it’s still an upgrade, so it was still a better situation. So, I now have a samnsung galaxy rush. It works for me. The case I have for it is rugged, so hopefully it will do a good job protecting it, though it does double the width of the phone. LOL!
On Monday this week, I experienced Cleveland’s West Side Market for the first time ever. It was incredible! Never had I seen so many food vendors! The prices were great and I had a lot of fun with my best friend going through all of it. I made some purchases and didn’t spend nearly as much as I would have at the grocery store. I plan to shop there often. Maybe next time I’ll take pictures of the market itself.
This is called a Monk. Lots and lots of chocolate. Pure chocolate.
Since my last post, I’ve been to the hookah bar twice with some friends. It’s a different one than we used to go to and we all seem to like it a lot more than the old one. It’s a much more fun atmosphere. It’s been good to get out and relax with my friends that I don’t get to see very often. One of them even donated a microwave to me since my old one is now my artistic one. It’s so good to have a microwave again!!
One night… at the hookah bar….
One thing that I’ve been recently using on the internet and as an app the past few days is Songza. I learned about it from Sam over at The Ellison Family Expansion Plan. It’s really cool. You just go to the website or use the app, and it will give you already made playlists to choose from based on your mood and what you’re doing. I’m definitely a fan! It’s made my days a little more interesting while I do stuff around the apartment.
Other than that, there’s really not much else new. Just job searching, occasionally creating, and lots of organizing and cleaning both at home and helping my mom out. I’ve been trying to re-discover the happiness in my life again, and I think I’m finally doing just that. So, thanks to all for hangin’ in there and there will be some new stuff coming soon. Thanks for reading!
